Interesting picture Because of the picture within the picture. I know what the latter depicts, but I have no idea about the former.

Yes you know and I know that the latter depicts an illegal re-establishment of the Monarchy of Czar Putin. While the former seems to be a 19th Century Peter Geller painting depicting the Patriarch Job who was illegally deposed in 1605 by a mob. After being a supporter of the reigning son of Ivan the Terrible the eldest son Tzarevich Dmitri was the Apparent Heir. His mysterious death which was later examined by historians to be an assassination by the sharing reign with Boris Godunov. The feudal aristocrat vice regent at the time, caused a huge uproar in the city of Uglich. Thus leading to a reign of an impostor labeled False Dmitri I in which he allowed the deposition and exile of his critic Patriarch Job of 6 years from office. The Patriarch in this painting might be putting out his hand to stop boyar P.F.Basmanov or False Dmitry I. The painting and the photo of Alexy was set in his Moscow office.
Patriarch Job is apparently commemorated on the OCA calender on June 19th.
