Audio Lecture

I found this lecture on the Antiochian.org website. I've not listened to it yet, but intend to...it is from Dr. Kyriacos Markides whose book "Mountain of Silence" is a fantastic introduction to Orthodox spirituality.

Other lectures from the same workshop may be found HERE.

I read "Mountain of Silence" and thought it was an excellent book. I'm no expert on Orthodoxy, but it seemed to be a truly faithful rendition of what he saw & heard on Athos. The only problem I had with Markides is his other book - "The Magus of Strovolos" - which seems to imply that he really isn't coming at this from an Orthodox perspective. Rather, he is presenting the material as evidence of just another "spiritual master", who just happens to be Orthodox instead of pagan, shamanistic, etc. After I learned of his other works, I had to reevaluate "Mountain of Silence."

Hey James. Thanks for the link. There are some fascinating talks, but with dial up it was going to take 4 hours to download Markides lecture. His book is wonderful. I managed to pick up a copy in Christchurch last year. My latest blogpost - a reflection on Mt Athos. Grace and peace.
