What Meg said. But if you're looking for the faith of Real Winners, check out Philippa's blog of a couple of weeks ago: http://lostinelegantcogitations.wordpress.com/2007/09/09/636/

Thanks, James, for fixing the link. Absolutely fascinating -- I've always wondered if African Orthodoxy had its own form of worship, as European Orthodox churches have theirs, and this answers the question. But what really impressed me is that, uniquely African though it is -- it's not in the least irreverent, like some of the Baptist or Holiness worship I've witnessed. OK, if that works for you, fine, but worship of the sort that the "Winner's Chapel" offers is a *huge* turn-off for me. Here's to the Parousia -- I think we all know which Church will be around for that!

FYI, this is the Tewahedo church - in communion with the Copts. The "Byzantine" (as they call us) Orthodox in Africa I believe have a much heavier Greek influence and don't seem quite as "African" in their worship.

At least this was my experience in Uganda.
