Innumerable Christian Treasures lost in Kosovo (not to mention lives)
Many more will likely be lost forever if independence is granted to the now nearly completely Albanian dominated region. The historic Christian presence in the region will no doubt continue to dwindle even more dramatically than it has in recent years while under the "protection" of international organizations (UN, NATO, et al). Meanwhile, under that "protection" we see this (click for slideshow and details):
Serbian Orthodox Bishop Artemije of the Diocese of Kosovo and Metohija has been in the US recently trying to raise awareness of the troubles in Kosovo. Stories HERE and HERE.

It's well worth reading, though sometimes Srdja Trifkovic takes to repeating himself (likely, there is some necessity in doing so if you often have to deal with the lies that seem to be repeated so often about the situation in Kosovo).
It is tough to know what is really going on, isn't it? Who is the oppressed and who is the oppressor? How far back in time do we go in order to determine who is the victim? perhaps to 1389 when the Turkish horde first arrived and created the problems we (read: Serbs and Albanians) are stuck with? Or perhaps when missionaries from Constantinople preached Christ amongst the heathen Slavs? Or perhaps further still when the Slavs arrived and pushed out the original inhabitants?
Or perhaps we should look to a more modern age and ask why we did not see the media firestorm and popular revolt amongst the Protestors we see today when it seems we were decieved/misled/ill-informed about the extent of the "genocide" that led to NATO bombings? NATO bombings that likely killed more Serbs than Albanians killed by Milosevic.
It's pretty messed up...I guess the "deception" perceived over Iraq is worthy of greater ire by critics because Americans are dying?
I don't know who Os Guinness is, but I suppose I would geenrally agree with him - except that it is difficult to determine WHO is truly being oppressed.
Try this experiment: Take a world map and color in all of the "green" nations. Now, compare and contrast where most of the world's conflicts presently exist and marvel particularly at the borders between "green" and non-green countries.
Further, check out where the vast majority of the worlds human rights are violated, and where political and religious freedoms are most non-existent.
But, then, I am an extremist in Dar-Al Harb.
The oppressed are the people, the mothers, fathers, sisters, and brothers having the shit bombed out of them.
In this situation I think we agree.
