Weekend Farm events

Well, the chicken run is functionally finished. We still need to get some netting to prevent birds of prey from wrecking havoc, but for now the chickens have begun their normal chicken routine: roaming the run in the day and back into the coop for the night. Of course, never having been outside before, they are a tad timid and really only a couple have strayed as far as three feet from their door. Others stand inside staring and peaking out which is quite a funny sight. Sue has a pic of the run at her blog.

The other big farm event was our acquisition of a farm truck. And boy is it a farm truck: 1973 GMC 3/4 ton pickup, complete with a beefy 350 motor and plenty of rust. Evolved over nearly 25 years, in no uncertain terms, to haul wood, manure, dirt, feed, goats, small tractors, and rocks. It is beautiful in its ugliness.
