With the ring of forgiveness, we race out upon the sea of the fast

As always, for all the offenses I have given, I plead for your forgiveness. My sins have unleashed untold quantities of greenhouse gasses into our shared spiritual ecosystem, God heal us of this global warming.

If it's the sea of the fast, wouldn't it be a gun not a bell starting the race. Guns are the traditional thing for starting sea races.

With the gun of forgiveness, we race out upon the sea of the fast.

Has sort of ominous overtones, dosn't it. Maybe I should take the fast more seriously than I do...

Shots can and do ring out - I was thinking more of the proverbial Gun to windward to emphasise the signal flags...
