Mass Baptisms in Georgia

You know, this isn't the first time I've hard of mass baptisms in Georgia, I wonder if there is a local tradition with regard to that. Pretty cool, alas, I could find no further information.

What beautiful photos! I'd love to attend a Georgian Orthodox Church someday, as they came into Christianity so early, their tones are very pre-Byzantine.

Regarding the Georgian tones-- it was shared with me once that the Georgian hymns divide into three seperate tones (?) and then join together again-- symbolism of the Trinity in the midst of the singing of hymns.

St. Herman's Press has recently released 'The Lives of the Georgian Saints.'

Oooh, Papa Herman - I'd not heard that. I need to see if I can find a CD of some Georgian hymns or the Liturgy.
