Reunion
Fr. John posted the Resolution to the LOG group last night.
A truly historic event, and once made official, worthy of much celebration!
News Stories abound: Here, Here.
Note the Resolution's call for an end to the Patriarchate's participation in the WCC.
Amen to that.
And, amen to this: "Pascha! Let us embrace each other joyously!"

Interesting point, Meg.
It's not any weaker an excuse to stay in than I've heard from other Orthodox bodies, but they're all equally weak, if you ask me. We're not going to beat them (we should want to "beat" a group that believes and does some of the things the WCC believes and does) by joining them. And I think some of the self-hating tripe James has posted on here in the past from OCA "spokespeople" is a direct result of the OCA's involvment in the WCC (and I guess the NCC, which is actually worse).
I'm sure ROCOR is going to catch flak for their famous "anti-ecumenism" on this one, but I'm with them. We don't need the WCC, and they don't even like us, so what are we doing there?
That being said, the ONLY excuse I can see for remaining in the NCC or the WCC is to be a witness for Christianity. As it is, both bodies are mostly irrelevant.
Joel...you COULD say that. I'm not clear on how ROCOR will be organized in relation to the other jurisdictions, but I suspect they will end up being another jurisdiction amongst the rest of us...but NOW more officially in communion with us. (I say "more" because they've always been in communion with the Serbs and so have the rest of us.)
Basically, this is a healing of a schism. Hallelujah! But we Orthodox still exist in an non-canonical organizational state here in the US.
Given the speed with which the Orthodox move on ANY issue, I suspect we will see jurisdictional unity in 3-4 hundred years.
:)
